Outbreak Case Investigation Presentation:
Oswego – An Outbreak of Gastrointestinal Illness Following a Church Supper
For this activity, the clerks were given an Outbreak Investigation Case File sourced from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) .
After completing the case study, the students should be able to:
1) Define the terms "outbreak" and "epidemic"
2) List the steps in the investigation of an outbreak.
3) Draw, interpret, and describe the value of an epidemic curve;
4) Compare food-specific attack rates to identify possible vehicles;
5) List reasons for investigating an outbreak that has apparently ended.
